What is the Zerpentynez Research Lab?

Late one night, while experimenting with with the subject of “The Future of Gravity”, a scientist accidentally triggered a portal into another dimension. Before he could even process what happened, the portal’s massive gravity yanked him straight into the other dimension.
A colleague found him the next morning, sitting apathetically on the floor, staring blankly into space and repeatedly muttering, “Zer – pen – tynez.” Since the word was completely unfamiliar to her, it initially remained a mystery what had happened during the night’s experiment. She decided to give him something to drink first. As she filled a cup with water and bent down toward him, his confused gaze fell upon her cleavage, which caused his eyes to clear and brought him back to his senses. He gratefully accepted the water, took a sip, and began to tell her what had happened.
Apparently, the portal spat him out into a dimension where the very concept of “clothing” is completely unknown. As luck would have it, he became an involuntary spectator to an athletic competition involving Amazons taking place right at the portal’s exit point. The sight of their flawless beauty and the sensual dance of their curvaceous, ser-pen-tine-like bodies was apparently too much for his poor brain to handle, and after a short while, it switched into standby mode as he stumbled back through the portal.
When his colleague asked him why he had kept stammering “Zer – pen – tynez” and what the word meant, he couldn’t make any sense of it at first, but then he just had to laugh. He would certainly refrain from explaining the word to her, but he thought it was a rather fitting name for this new dimension.
Shortly after the incident, the scientist quit his job at the laboratory so he could devote himself entirely to exploring the new dimension of “Zerpentynez.” As you may have already guessed, the scientist is actually me, “Tom” and I eagerly document what I see there through my drawings.
Since things are not quite as free-spirited in our dimension as they are in Zerpentynez, I usually draw two versions of my research findings. The version intended for popular science magazines (Social Media) is slightly distorted by the addition of clothing, while readers of highly scientific publications (Patreon) can enjoy the unaltered research findings.

Zerpentynez joking aside, who are you really?

I’ve been working as an illustrator and comic artist for many years and had publications in different magazines and comic books. I also drew thousands of illustrations for explainer videos until i reached a point, where i was totally exhausted and had to take a break from drawing for several years.
After finding back to my passion for drawing i decided to keep it healthy this time and mainly draw what i want.
Seems i found my preferred subject because i never get exhausted or unmotivated when drawing beautiful women.
As an illustrator i’m a big fan of clear lines, reduced color schemes and some kind of stylization in the drawings. Most of my motives follow this rule but from time to time i have to leave all clear lines behind and go wild with some crazy brushes – you will notice the difference when that special day arrives.

TOM – MOT – EOH – HOE?

The signature is a stylized version of my name “Tom”. While switching the dimensions the signature seems to go into a multidimensional slot machine that vigorously spins the signature in 90° steps and then spits it out at a random 90° angle.

How do you work?

I draw a lot of 2 to 5 minute sketches with pencils in my sketchbook. When i like a pose, have time and motivation i scan the sketch and make the final artwork in the drawing software “Clip Studio Paint” with my 15 years old “Wacom Cintiq 21UX”.

Tasteful nudity pin-up art?

In my pin-up art i prefer a kind of tasteful nudity where the celebration of the female beauty is in the focus. If you search for explicit content this is not the right place for you.

Do you use ai for making your art?

As an artist i enjoy the whole process of creation. A vague idea in my mind comes to live with a pencil on paper, goes through different iterations until it is clearly formulated – often enough in a surprising and unexpected new or altered shape. It may be selfish to refuse the machine all that fun but i don’t use ai for my art.
